A strategy to bring Franco Thursdays to life

CONTEXT

The objective of the Jeudis Franco Thursdays initiative by CDEM and Tourisme Riel is to bring together actors from the Francophonie in Saint-Boniface in Manitoba to offer a unique tourism experience. As two unifying organizations dedicated to economic and community development, particularly through tourism, CDEM and Tourisme Riel support various tourism operators. Despite the existing diversified offer, Jeudis Franco Thursdays needed advice in order to review its mission, vision and objectives in order to perpetuate this initiative.

APPROACH

The rigorous approach involved several steps in order to achieve these goals, including:

- An analysis of the offer and the business environment- An analysis of trends and the marketing of comparable tourist products

- A portrait of current and potential B2B and B2C customers

- Co-creation workshop with several partners of the Jeudi Francos Thursdays initiative

- Co-creation workshop with the project team- The development of strategic objectives and guidelines

- The development of an evolving strategic implementation plan

RESULTS

The approach made it possible to further mobilize the Franco-Manitoban ecosystem around a promising tourism initiative. It also strengthened the leadership of CDEM and Tourisme Riel in tourism development in Saint-Boniface and Winnipeg more generally. Finally, the deliverables led to a clarification of everyone's roles and responsibilities which will lead to greater operational efficiency.
