A business plan for a church converted into accommodation

CONTEXT

The owners of Old Church Cottages purchased an old Baptist church near Moncton in order to give it a new tourist vocation. Three years of renovation work were required to transform the historic building, built in 1842, into an extraordinary short-term rental cottage. The place is also suitable for groups looking for space to organize private, professional or corporate events.

Recognizing the difficulty of standing out from competitors, the owners decided to begin a process of strategic definition of the priorities and objectives to be achieved in order to make their project a reality.

APPROACH

Through working sessions with owners as well as a rigorous method of analyzing the business environment, Touriscope contributed to:

- Define the offer well
- Identify the customer profiles to be reached
- Present the best marketing tactics
- Develop a three-year action plan

RESULTS

Thus, the business plan and the strategic plan allowed the owners to understand the trends that govern the tourism industry, to analyze customer needs and to identify relevant partners. This strategic knowledge supported them in the next stages of their development and should translate into greater attendance and revenue.
