Sophie Monnier
Lightkeeper - Tourism transformation
I am a curious person. I like to inform myself, to read, to learn. For example, I need to read the newspaper every day in order to know, understand and compare my opinion with that of others. That's certainly why I like to surround myself with people. I am also very Foodie. When I travel, I like to discover new foods and eat local food. It guides my trips. Some people book a hotel first, I book restaurants.
In my work, I favour a global, even macro, approach. I need to understand a project as a whole. As in my personal life, I am a team player, I learn from others, I listen and I improve. In my role as a scout, I bring quantitative expertise. I often find myself doing analyses in contexts that are sometimes unusual: while skiing, cycling or even in a restaurant. I look at people, the environment, and get a statistical picture of an aspect that caught my attention. I put this skill at the service of tourist intelligence at Touriscope. I love to write, but numbers speak to me.
I studied economics (I have a master's degree), then worked in the financial and banking sector. An excellent school, but it's a bit conservative for me. I went back to tourism courses. My in-depth knowledge of Quebec allows me to contextualize places and people. I have a wealth of experiences, a very historical and geographical understanding of territories, especially Quebec. Thanks to the bike, I discover the landscape, I pedal it, I learn about its small corners and details that make the reflection in the context of our projects closer to reality. When I collaborate on mandates related to history and genealogy, I am thrilled. I could talk about it for a long time. Do you have some time?
