CONTEXT
This project involved developing a concept to promote the intangible heritage of Lanaudière through tourism. In collaboration with an expert in museology and heritage, an ethnohistorical approach was used to create the "Parcours des voyageurs" concept, allowing visitors to explore the region through characters and elements linked to its history and local culture. A tourist experience based on digital tools is now being designed by the clients, Tourisme Lanaudière and Culture Lanaudière, in collaboration with cultural and tourist stakeholders in the region. The goal is to attract visitors to cultural attractions and add value to the tourist experience at each of Lanaudière's tourist hubs.
APPROACH
The process, which took place over several months, consisted of several steps in two parts:
Part 1:
- Portrait of the Cultural Offer
- Inventory of tangible and intangible heritage
- Identification of the most promising elements
- Creation of Characters and Their Stories
- Identifying concepts
Part 2:
- Analysis of the tourist offer
- Overview of demand
- Comparable and trend study
- Design of experiences
- Co-creation and validation workshop
RESULTS
This mandate allowed the development of a road map to implement the tourism experience designed around the concept of the Traveller Journey. In particular, it provides tourist itineraries that highlight the intangible heritage of Lanaudière. Recommendations were made and points of attention were raised to ensure the success of the project.
